I think all of us are in many ways so familiar with the breakup lines used to end a relationship. Old-fashioned or not, the ultimate purpose is to give yourself or the other half a reason to feel better. People are so naive that they think a line or two can actually make those who suffer from heart-break feel much better and not brood. However, some people who are utmost delusional do undeniably feel better with the reasons/excuses given to them by their partners to break it off, regardless of whether it's a truth or a lie.
"We are not meant for each other" This is rather a more straightforward one and I personally think it's the most sincere one.
"You deserve better and I am just not good enough for you!" ok seriously, whomever says this deserves a slap on the face. Why bother going after someone if you know you are not good enough. bullshit.
"Being with you doesn't help with my erection!" Well my friend once told me this and I just couldn't stop laughing and told him he should've countered back by suggesting the blue pills. It's a whole new level of using metaphors, really.
Breakup lines, most of the time, are everything but excuses that are not sincerely said.

I was having lunch with a friend of mine Steven the other day when we talked about his recent breakup with his Chinese boyfriend. They have been together for months but work brought his bf away from him for a month before they broke up. Blame it on the distance we all know it kills relationships, but the reason given by the bf kinda got me drowning in my own thoughts.
"He said his mum made him promised not to have anything more than friendship with a guy" Steven told me.
"so now it's the parents?! and does he really think he will be able to stay out of this? Marry a girl and live happily ever after?" I couldn't help but to overreact slightly.
"He said he will try and in addition to that, he doesn't have faith with himself" Steven then said, sounded all upset and clueless at the same time.
"Keep it coming. More reasons/excuses?" I was apparently quite annoyed with what the bf said.
"His ex left him a letter and his 5 years relationship with him is just over. It's difficult for him, and also the mum, too much for him to handle!" Steven then said.
"wow, amazing, now the ex issues. Hey c'mon, if he has loved you enough, he wouldn't even have told you about the ex. what did the ex have to do with you anyway? you and him were in the relationship, not with the ex! It really makes me wonder where does that make you stand?"
"hmm I don't know. It really broke my heart when he mentioned about the ex. Just called it off and stop rubbing it in would he?" Steven said, still not ready to move on.

It really got me thinking, is it really that difficult to just end a relationship with someone the straightforward way that people always try to make up lots of excuses? Do the excuses really help ease their guilt and make the victims feel better? Do they ever consider the fact that those excuses might just make everything worse along the way as in Steven's case.
Talking about honesty. You need it to start a relationship, stay in it, and also when you end a relationship.

well... it's hard to predict wat's going to happen eh? ;) all the best!
Everybody has got their own way of starting or ending a relationship; some juz do it better than others. I always believed negative words are best left unsaid most times. I prefer to remember and cherish the good times shared. After all, getting mad and all worked up only hurts ourselves at the end of the day. Just my opinion. ^_^

If reasons are given, it will be over-analysed. If no words are spoken, your imagination will get the better of you.....
well watever is being said... it will be seen through be it a lame excuse or most sincere ones.
juz accept the facts... somtimes we hard to control everything..
