My mum is officially sick of sons and is doing her best to get herself a daughter. To think that she has totally abandoned the old-fashioned way of thinking of asian's that sons are always better than daughters is kinda encouraging. However, the idea of having a sister the age of my nephew, if not younger, is totally putting me off.
Having tried three times in hope of conceiving a daughter but failed miserably in the end with three sons in bag has had my mum giving up on getting pregnant again. To think that a daughter is probably more clingy to mum than a son, my mum has always wanted a daughter. Knowing that she can't be pregnant with a baby girl, not even with a granddaughter, she even thought of adopting or buying a baby. But that hasn't happened just yet.
"Someone is selling his daughter for 15k" My mum told me and my dad the other day.
"and so?" I responded while my dad was all silent.
"let's have a daughter!" She said again, sounded all excited and looked forward to us saying yes.
"you are already a grandma! Imagine your grandson who is older calling your daughter auntie!!! It just doesn't make sense at all! " I said again, relentlessly shattered her dream.
"yeh, we are not that young anymore let's not get ourselves any more troubles shall we?" my dad then added.
It got me thinking, maybe there really is a difference between a son and a daughter. A son will not go shopping with his mum but a daughter will always do that; a son will not sit down and listen to his mum or even confide in his mum about everything but a daughter will do just all that; A son will not readily help out with the house chores but you can always see a daughter doing that.
(let's not include gay sons in this context because I really feel myself more like a daughter now, lol)

Well, there are stories though rare and few in between where the mom gets along just fine with both son and son-in-law and the latter took up the role admiringly. *speaking frm experience here*!
Though hope may seem like a feather in the wind, you can't help but only hoping the feather lands on its desired destination.
